PEER REVIEW PROCESS

The Journal of Science, Technology, and Management Innovations (JSTMI) adheres to a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality, original, and impactful research. The journal follows a double-blind peer-review methodology, where both the authors' and reviewers' identities are kept confidential to maintain objectivity and fairness.

Steps in the Peer Review Process:

  • 1. Initial Screening: Submitted manuscripts are first assessed by the editorial team for adherence to the journal's focus, scope, and formatting requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet basic standards or fall outside the journal's scope are returned to the authors.
  • 2. Assignment to Reviewers: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are carefully selected based on their expertise to provide informed evaluations.
  • 3. Reviewer Evaluation: Reviewers assess the manuscript for originality, methodological rigor, clarity, relevance, and contribution to the field. They provide detailed feedback and recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection.
  • 4. Author Revisions: Authors are required to respond to reviewers' comments and revise their manuscripts accordingly. Revised submissions undergo further review, if necessary, to ensure all concerns have been adequately addressed.
  • 5. Editorial Decision: Based on reviewers’ feedback and the editor's assessment, a final decision is made to accept, request further revisions, or reject the manuscript.
  • 6. Publication: Accepted manuscripts are edited and prepared for publication, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to the journal's standards.

The entire peer-review process is designed to uphold academic integrity, encourage constructive feedback, and maintain the quality and credibility of research published in JSTMI.

PUBLICATION & FREQUENCY

JSTMI issues 4 times a year (January, April, September, and December). Each issue consists of 5-20 articles and therefore each volume has max 100 articles/reviews. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Plagiarism Screening

Before going to review process, all manuscripts will be checked that they are free from plagiarism practice (less than 20% similarities). If there an indication of plagiarism (higher than 20% similarities), the manuscript will instantly be rejected.

Ethics And Malpractice Statement

(Based on Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (see https://publicationethics.org/) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) (see https://wame.org/) in the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Publication Process).

DUTIES

Authors: Authors submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Science, Technology, and Management Innovations (JSTMI) are expected to uphold certain responsibilities to ensure the quality, integrity, and transparency of their work. Below are the key duties authors must adhere to:

  • 1. Originality and Authenticity: Submissions must be original work, free from plagiarism or duplication. Authors should properly cite and reference all sources used to avoid any unethical practices. Any previously published material should be clearly acknowledged, and permission for reusing previously published content must be obtained if necessary.
  • 2. Manuscript Preparation: Authors must prepare their manuscripts according to the JSTMI’s submission guidelines, including proper formatting, referencing style, and the inclusion of required sections (abstract, keywords, etc.). Submissions should be clear, concise, and well-organized to facilitate the review process and enhance readability.
  • 3. Ethical Considerations: Authors should adhere to ethical research standards, including obtaining appropriate ethical approval for research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data. Any potential conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, must be disclosed.
  • 4. Addressing Reviewer Feedback: Authors are required to carefully consider the feedback provided by reviewers. If revisions are requested, authors must respond comprehensively and in a timely manner, addressing all concerns raised by the reviewers. If the manuscript requires major revisions, authors must revise the manuscript and resubmit it for further review.
  • 5. Data Availability and Transparency: Authors should ensure that all relevant data and materials are available for review and replication if required. This may include supplementary datasets or code used in the research.
  • 6. Authorship and Acknowledgements: All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as co-authors, with their consent. Authors must acknowledge financial support, resources, and any other contributions to the work that do not warrant authorship.
  • 7. Post-Submission Responsibilities: Once a manuscript is published, authors should promptly inform the journal of any errors, inconsistencies, or issues that may arise post-publication. Corrections or retractions should be handled transparently.
  • 8. Compliance with Open Access Policies: As JSTMI is an Open Access journal, authors should ensure their work complies with Open Access policies and agree to make their published articles freely accessible to a global audience.

By fulfilling these duties, authors help maintain the scientific rigor, ethical standards, and integrity of the publication process, ensuring that JSTMI remains a trusted platform for cutting-edge research in science, technology, and management.

Editors Duties

Editors have several key responsibilities, as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME):

  • 1. Publication Decisions: Editors have the authority to decide whether an article is accepted or rejected. Initially, the editor makes a decision based on the manuscript's alignment with the journal's focus, novelty, and legal considerations. If the article progresses past the editor’s first decision, it enters the peer review stage, where the editor compiles and evaluates reviewer feedback to make a final decision.
  • 2. Fair Play and Confidentiality: Editors must ensure fairness in handling all articles, regardless of the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, or political views. All information related to the review and editorial process must remain confidential and cannot be disclosed to anyone outside the editorial team, reviewers, or the publisher.
  • 3. Conflicts of Interest: Editors must avoid using unpublished materials from authors, including sensitive peer-review data, for their personal research without explicit permission. They should recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest due to relationships with the authors or their institutions. If conflicts arise after publication, authors must disclose them, and appropriate actions, such as publishing corrections or retractions, should be taken.
  • 4. Complaints and Investigations: If ethical concerns are raised about a submitted or published article, the editor, in collaboration with the publisher, should take necessary actions such as revisions, corrections, retractions, or issuing an expression of concern. Any actions should be based on thorough communication and confirmation with the authors to ensure fairness.

Reviewers’ Duties

Once an article passes the initial screening by the editor, the journal ensures a fair review process by assigning at least three reviewers: one internal reviewer (from Acharya Institute of Technology) and two external reviewers. Reviewers have several responsibilities based on the guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME):

  • 1. Roles, Promptness, Confidentiality, and Fairness in Reviewing: Reviewers assist editors by providing impartial judgments and constructive feedback to improve the quality of the article. Communication should only occur between the reviewers and editors, with no direct contact between reviewers and authors. All correspondence must be conducted through formal scholarly channels and within a timely manner. If a reviewer feels unqualified to assess the manuscript, they must notify the editor promptly. Reviewers provide suggestions, but the final decision on publication rests with the editor. All materials related to the article and review process must remain confidential, and reviewers should not discuss the manuscript with anyone, including the authors, without the editor’s consent.
  • 2. Acknowledgment: Reviewers should identify relevant published works that authors may have overlooked and provide feedback based on clear observations, reasoning, or evidence. Reviewers must also highlight any significant overlap or similarity between the manuscript and other published works that they are aware of.
  • 3. Conflict of Interest: Reviewers are prohibited from using any unpublished material disclosed in a manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit consent and the editor’s approval. All peer review materials are confidential, and ideas and findings must not be used for the reviewer’s personal benefit. Reviewers should abstain from evaluating manuscripts if they have any conflicts of interest due to relationships with the authors, organizations, or businesses related to the manuscript.
